What is Creative Movement Therapy?
Creative movement therapy (also known as dance movement therapy) is an alternative therapy through personal body movement. Rather than being a choreographed dance, movement is based on our personal style, story and expression. It uses the body’s natural movements to achieve a balance between emotional, cognitive, social and physical parts of our lives. As part of this, we will eventually develop a strong personal movement language and connect better with our selves, leading to healthier and more holistic lives.
What does this gathering offer?
This module offers theoretical frameworks and creative-healing movement activities from therapeutic dance. It also includes techniques of dance therapy used in group and individual work. Alongside, participants will also experience their own personal journey through intense process work during the workshop.
About the facilitator:
One of the founding directors of Creative Movement Therapy Association of India (CMTAI), Manju is a certified Creative Movement Therapists and has an MA in Psychology.
With over a decade and a half of relevant experience in public health and development sectors, she has worked with acclaimed international organizations such as the American Red Cross, The Union and Norwegian Church Aid and imparted trainings in the South East Asia Region. Having facilitated at august institutions like the Mayo College, Ajmer and Modern School, Delhi, Manju has also to her credit experience of facilitating trainings for corporations like HCL, Ericsson, and art institutions like Kiran Nadar Musuem of Art and Pearl Academy.
Apart from having conducted several experiential workshops and training in movement therapy, she is also one of the core faculty for the certification course offered by CMTAI.
